David D. Luxton, PhD, MS
David D. Luxton, Ph.D., M.S., is a nationally recognized expert, consultant, and trainer in suicide prevention, telehealth, and innovative technologies in behavioral healthcare. He is Affiliate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle. Dr. Luxton previously served as a Research Health Scientist at the Naval Health Research Center in San Diego, CA and Research Psychologist and Program Manager at the National Center for Telehealth and Technology (Defense Health Agency), Joint-Base Lewis McChord. He has authored numerous scientific and policy-level publications, and the books: Artificial Intelligence in Behavioral and Mental Health Care (2015), A Practitioner’s Guide to Telemental Health (2016). He has consulted widely on the topic of military and veteran’s health, artificial intelligence, and technology in healthcare, and has helped to develop national guidelines for telemental health and clinical best practices for technology-based treatments. He is a recipient of the American Psychological Association Division 19 (Military Psychology) Arthur W. Melton Award for Early Career Achievement.
